When words leave off
Born in Rome in 1986, her own works are inspired by the swing tradition. She started to be into music watching the movie Sister Act: when she was a child, her dream was to have black skin, to sing and to direct a choir; she could not achieve every dream, but she get two of them!
She used to sing in every choir of the school and in the church of her nieghbourhood. At the age of 12, she started to study classical guitar for three years, with Maestro Salvatore Rotunno. Then, she started to study modern singing at the Scuola Popolare di Musica Donna Olimpia. In 2007 she started to a end the Professional Jazz Singing Diploma Course in Saint Louis College of Music, Rome, studying with Pierluca Buonfrate, Antonio Solimene, Claudio Colasazza, Andrea Avena, Pierpaolo Principato, Claudio Mastracci and Diego Caravano. Meanwhile, she got a degree in Transla on and Interpre ng at University and, at the same me, she worked as hostess for Alitalia, in Leonardo Da Vinci airport. This experience taught her to follow her dreams in order to be happy, so she changed her life and she started to a end the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia to con nue music studies in the course Jazz Composing and Arranging. She studied with Maria Pia De Vito and Danilo Rea. She got her rst class honour degree in April 2013 with a thesis called “The Silence”.
She kept on studying voice and jazz, a ending various seminars with Cinzia Spata, Bob Stolo , Roger Treece, Albert Hera, etc.
She also studied teaching for children and since 2012 she has been studying Or -Shulwerk Methodology and Practice, in Scuola Popolare di Musica Donna Olimpia, a ending also seminars of body percussions and choir direc on. In 2015 she a ended a seminar about teaching music to blind people. In 2016 she studied how to direct children choir in Scuola Popolare di Musica di Testaccio.
She works as children music teacher in a primary school, she teaches music and jazz singing to adults and young people, she leads some groups of children teaching them introduc on to music and she directs 2 choirs: a children one and an adult one.
In May 2019 her first album “Until Now” has been released by Filibusta Records italian label. The album contains her own songs, played by Gianluca Massetti at piano, Francesco Pierotti at doublebass and Valerio Vantaggio on drums.
In 2015 she won the contest Women In Jazz and she sang in London and in Casa Del Jazz, Rome.
She has been performing as a band leader in various jazz band since 2009. She collaborated with a lot of well-known musicians, earning the approval of audience and musicians with a repertoire of mainstream jazz. She is well-known in Rome as a swing singer, singing very often in trio with Riccardo Biseo on piano and Stefano Cantarano on doublebass. She also sings in the vocal quartet Rosse Renne Rumorose, writing Christmas Carols arrangements.
In 2016 she took part at the recording of the jazz album of the saxophonist Milena Angelè (Something There, Filibusta Records), singing the song Little Person, and she also recorded a song for a new version of the soundtrack of the movie Amore Tossico, by the italian band La Batteria, with a vocal trio.
In 2009 she opened the concert of important italian ar st Antonella Ruggiero in Etruria Jazz Fes val as a jazz band leader. In 2010 she was chosen by Saint Louis College of Music to take part at the fes val Gezz Night in Auditorium Parco Della Musica, Rome, with her project Roma in Duo, doublebass and voice, with Flavia Os ni. In the same year she also sang for the tv show Jazz Bar. In 2011 she worked as a background voice for Claudio Rocchi, memorable italian song-writer and singer. In 2011/2013 she worked as a singer in a dixieland band, DIXIELadies, during the teathrical performance Please, me raccon l’America, by the actor Marco Rea. With DIXIELadies, she took part in a lot of fes val in Rome and Puglia.
In 2012 she was part of the choir that sang the suite Atom Heart Mother, Pink Floyd, with the cover band Acous c Floyd at the Crossroads, Rome, with Max Gazzè.
In 2012 she was chosen between the musician of the Conservatory to take part in a tournèe in some conservatory of Italy with a project of free jazz.
In 2013 she performed at the na onal fes val Jazzit Fest in Collescipoli, organized by the publisher Luciano Vanni with a performance between theatre and music, wri end by herself, called In principio era il Silenzio.
She was part of the World Spirit Orchestra, Choir of Casa Del Jazz, until 2013, as singer and collaborator, taking part also in some important tv shows as Neripoppins, by Neri Marcorè.
Since 2013 she has been singing a vocal quartet with a funny christmas carols repertoire, for which she also writes the arrengements.
Since 2016 she is the singer of the Dixieland Orchestra Original Saxie Band, leaded by Attilio Berni, and since 2018 she collaborates with Gomb Jazz Band, leaded by Gianluca Ottaviani and Marco Bonelli.
